The music of MVTANT, the solo dark electronic project of Joseph Anger, carries the listener through the future primitive sounds of collage-like lo-fi samples, punishing basslines, washes of nauseating synthesizers, all woven together throughout constantly shapeshifting song structures. Drawing heavily from body horror cinema and ero guro graphic novels, MVTANT has crafted a world that is uniquely grotesque and otherworldly, that walks the line between dreamlike fantasies and waking nightmares.
After reissuing his first two EP’s Gore+Mirrorshade on vinyl in 2021 followed by a companion collection of remixes, Low Culture+Metal Bodies, in 2023, he has returned in 2024 with Electronic Body Horror, a full length album of songs that started as demos during the 2020 lockdown. Each song represents a different near death hallucination, and the album asks how much we store sensation, emotion, and memory in our flesh, and how much of that would be carried over if our body parts were transplanted into another person. Would they absorb our memories? Would we too have access to their memories? And If we die, what do we take with us and what do we leave behind?
Another excellent batch of spooky, synth-driven music from Clan Destine, with songs ranging from dark ambient to goth techno. Bandcamp New & Notable May 21, 2018
Equally influenced by folk noir, beat poetry, and experimental industrial, this German producer builds unsettling, fascinating worlds. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 18, 2019
More grim, scuffed-surface lo-fi electronic music from the mysterious Clan Destine label; ghostly, surreal, and strangely riveting. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 27, 2017

I've always enjoyed Boy Harsher but I don't think they ever really clicked in my brain until I watched The Runner. Now I can't get enough. Gordon Skramzy (Nathan)
